Professor S Swaminathan taught mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi for 32 years.

Believing that technology must be human-centered and its development follows the cultural route, he trained himself to give lectures on a range of subjects from the evolution of scripts and Indian heritage music, to the marvels of Nalanda and Ajanta.

The slides he creates for his talks are wonders in themselves. A much sought-after lecturer with an eager following from many professional fields, Professor Swaminathan continues to promote heritage awareness among young people – what he calls culture-scaping.
