Kalki’s Mamallapuram
The Kalki Biography project is very happy to share this video on Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram), a world heritage site situated a few miles away from Chennai. It became a household word for the Tamil people when Kalki wrote his historical novel Sivakamiyin Sapatham, center-staging the Pallava kings who created this dreamworld – Mahendra, and his son “Mamalla” Narasimhavarman.
Historian R Gopu takes us through the marvels of this sculpture garden and talks about how Kalki’s works on this site had inspired him. “Thank you for this opportunity. I am utterly delighted that I can perhaps repay Kalki for opening my eyes to an unknown world in this very small way,” is what he said when we thanked him for generously making and sharing this video with us.
